Tasting notes for the Vosne-Romanée "Les Hauts Beaumonts" 2019 - Pierre Girardin

  • EYE: The wine has a brilliant and intense ruby red color. Its depth and attractiveness are notable. It displays a beautiful shine and good density in the glass.
  • NOSE: It reveals a complex and enticing aromatic bouquet. Intense aromas of red fruits such as cherry and raspberry blend with delicate notes of lavender and rose. Spicy nuances of black pepper and cloves bring liveliness. Subtle woody notes of oak and vanilla complete the ensemble.
  • MOUTH: The Vosne-Romanée offers a silky and velvety texture. Juicy and ripe red fruit flavors unfold elegantly, accompanied by hints of black cherry and blackberry. The tannins are fine and well-integrated, providing a balanced structure. Spicy notes and licorice harmoniously mingle with the fruity aromas. The finish is long, persistent, and leaves a refreshing and mineral sensation.

In short: This Vosne-Romanée "Les Hauts Beaumonts" 2019 from the Domaine Pierre Girardin is an extremly stylish Pinot Noir wine, that goes without saying. This vintage is the best choice for any sort of white meat, fish or seafood. It also pairs well with soft cheeses such as Brie or Camembert. This vintage can be enjoyed now to appreciate its youthfulness and freshness, but it also has good aging potential. If you'd prefer to let it mature a bit more, it can stay in your cellar from 5 to 10 years without problem.

The wunderkind of Meursault!

Son of wine grower Vincent Girardin and proud member of the 13th generation of his winemaking family, Pierre-Vincent was practically born in a Burgundy winery. When he was 15, he chose to uphold the tradition and become a winemaker himself, learning the trade in his father's 2 hectares vineyard. A wise decision in retrospect, since Pierre Girardin is now the owner of an eponymous estate in Meursault (Côte de Beaune).

He was only 19 when he released his first wine cuvée: the 2017. And at the time, it already sold quite well. Pierre-Vincent Girardin might be young, but he showed that he was already well-versed in some of the most effective winemaking techniques. Thanks to his passion for traveling and his love for discovering the best wines around, he gradually managed to hone his skills and acquired a lot of experience along the way.

The ambitious winemaker wants to let the Burgundy terroir express itself, more than anything. To that end, he's decided to expand his estate in the next two years (from 4.5 to 10 hectares in total) and plant some new famous appellations he's recently managed to get his hands on. He also plans to entirely switch to organic wine making in the next five years, in his never-ending quest to always let the vineyard come first.
