Francis Boulard

100% biodynamics Champagne

The Boulard family has been cultivating the Champagne vineyards since at least 1792. As for Francis Boulard, he started to work in the wine estate of his grandfather Julien in the 1970's. He had been helping his father Raymond, who was the associate of Francis' grandfather since 1952, the year the father and son started embottling their production themselves. The grandson began his training by plowing the fields of the "Boulard Frères" wine estate.

With time, Francis brilliantly developed his skills, which meant he was ready to be put in charge of vinification by 1975. Five years later, in 1980, his father Raymond Boulard founded his very own champagne house, which bore his name. When Raymond died, his three children (Francis, Hélène and Dominique) took care of the family estate, at least until 2009. That year, Francis left the House Raymond Boulard because he was unhappy with the direction of the business. He wanted to go full organic for his wines but his siblings refused. Thus, he started his own estate, called "Francis Boulard et Fille" on the commune of Cauroy-lès-Hermonville, with the help of his daughter Delphine.

Today, the Francis Boulard champagnes have gone 100% biodynamics (Ecocert certified since 2009), in order to protect the Champagne terroir. Francis retired in 2017, and his daughter Delphine Boulard is now in control of the family estate and its 3,4 hectares vineyard located on the famous Montagne de Reims. She's followed in her dad's footsteps ever since she first entered the Boulard family’s vineyard back in 2003. The champagnes she produces are expressive and gastronomic. Only 25,000 bottles are produced each year.
