Comtes de Champagne - Blanc de Blancs 1997 - Maison Taittinger
Champagne, Blanc de Blancs, vintage 1997, Comtes de Champagne, Maison Taittinger
The story of this champagne house begins in 1734, under the moniker "Maison Forest-Fourneaux", thanks to a certain Jacques Fourneaux. Two centuries later, Pierre Taittinger bought the property and renamed it "Domaine Taittinger".
The domaine spans 280 hectares of vineyards and beautiful Gallo-Roman cellars can be found underneath the house itself. They were built during the 4th century and you can actually visit them, to admire the millions of bottles resting within.
In 2006, Pierre Taittinger retired after having sold the property to the Credit Agricole and the Starwood Capital Group, for more than half a million Euros.
