Chambolle-Musigny 1996 - Domaine Comte De Vogüé

The Domaine du Comte de Vogue is seen as somewhat of an institution in the Burgundy region. The building itself has sprung up in 1450, thanks to Jean Moisson. It was kept in his family until a certain Catherine Bouhier married Cerice-Melchior de Vogue in 1766. More than a century later, in 1925, the famous Count Georges de Vogue came up with the brand as we know it today.

When the Count died, in 1987, his daughter, the Baroness Bertrand de Ladoucette, decided to keep the domaine and manage it herself. Together with her dream team (Jean-Luc Pepin, François Millet and Eric Bourgogne), they oversee the 12 hectares of grapevines and make some of the best wine around: mostly Musigny (80%), but also Bonnes-Mares and Chambolle-Musigny.

The wines from the Comte de Vogue are built to last decades and they can be kept in your cellar for more than 50 years. Once you open them, they'll still retain that wonderful aroma and taste of fruits. As for the vineyard, the owners have decided to always put nature first, although they don't have any organic certification.
