Description

Bought by the company AXA Millésimes in 1978, the Domaine de l'Arlot is located right in the middle of the Clos de l'Arlot, a vast vineyard of 14 hectares. The latter was started by Jean-Charles Vienot at the end of the 18th century, which means that these grapevines are quite old indeed.

Since its creations, the key word for the Domaine de l'Arlot has been "biodynamics" (a form of organic farming). Traditional plowing, a complete lack of pesticides... Christian Selly (the current manager) does everything he can to guarantee that traditions be respected.

Domaine de l'Arlot

A star estate of the Côte de Nuits

The Domaine de l'Arlot is located on a former marble quarry, right in the middle of the Clos de l'Arlot, just 2 km away from the village of Nuits-Saint-Georges. It’s a vast Burgundy vineyard of 14 hectares planted by Jean-Charles Vienot, near the end of the 18th century. At the time, the grapevines were already 50 years old. In 1891, the Clos de l’Arlot was sold by the descendants of the Vienot family to a wine merchant called Jules Bélin. He was the one who also bought the Clos des Forêts Saint-Georges and the Clos du Chapeau later on.

Although it was acquired by the AXA Millésimes group in 1987, the keyword for this Côte de Nuits estate remains "biodynamics" (a form of organic farming). Traditional plowing, a complete lack of pesticides, respect of the solar and lunar cycles, very few human interventions... Christian Seely (the current manager) and Géraldine Godot (technical director) do everything they can to guarantee that traditions be respected.
