In 1866, Constant Halphen bought the castle and gavec the management to Francis and Marcel Borie brothers. Francis and Marcel Borie bought Batailley in 1932 and divided into two parts: the smaller became “Haut Batailley”, the other one, comprising the castle kept the name Batailley. Francis Borie acquired “Haut-Batailley” and enlarged the domain when he acquired Duhart-Milon in 1951. Upon his death in 1953, the estate passed to his daughter, and after his death in 1998 passed to his nephew. In 2009 the family completed a total renovation of facilities, with the reconstruction of the winery and cellars, to allow a further progression of “Haut-Batailley”. The vineyard of 22 ha is located southwest of the appellation, it covers land large and deep Garonne gravel. The vineyard is composed of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc.
