Montrachet 1999 - Domaine de la Romanée-Conti
- Presentation of the winery
Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, is considered one of the world's most prestigious areas, with a vineyard of 25.5 hectares. The Domaine de la Romanée-Conti that we know today was founded in 1942 by Edmond Gaudin de Villaine. Currently, Aubert de Villaine and Henry-Frédéric Roch are co-managers. This area has become a legend, in fact, the prices of bottles reach new heights.
- Grand Cru Montrachet
The history of this great wine begins in 13th century, at the time the Cistercian Maizières Abbey receives the first vines "Montrachaz" located between Puligny and Chassagne. But it is really in the 19th century that this grand cru will be recognized at fair value, indeed the greatest poets and even the writers emphasize in their writings. Alexandre Dumas said that this wine "should be drunk kneeling and bareheaded." Montrachet acquired a reputation of white wine, unlike Bâtard-Montrachet and Bienvenue-Montrachet, which are renowned for the production of red wine.
- Wine
This Montrachet vintage 1999 has a nose of floral notes as well as yellow fruits and spices. On the palate, it is powerful, concentrated. The finish is very long, and very balanced.
