The Domaine Sylvie Esmonin, about 8 hectares, is managed with talent by its owner. Agronomist engineer, Sylvie Esmonin was first oenologist consultant in multiple estates, before working alongside her father Michel Esmonin, and taking over the family estate in 1998, giving it her name.
Work and expertise in the vineyard, winemaking using whole bunches, Sylvie Esmonin creates generous wines with passion, full of nobility. She produces several appellations (White Burgundy, Red Burgundy, Côte de Nuits Villlage, Grevrey Chambertin, Volnay-Santenots, and finally the flagship: Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jacques), some in confidential quantities for the greatest pleasure of enlightened amateurs.
- Clos Saint-Jacques
The plot is so named due to the discovery of a statue of Saint-Jacques, and the presence of a chapel dedicated to him. The plot is 2ha21, it is divided into vertical bands belonging to five owners. including Domaine Sylvie Esmonin.
- Wine
The Gevrey-Chambertin is a legendary wine, whose color is deep, glowing. On the nose this wine has aromas of black and red fruits and also floral notes. On the palate, this wine is both fine and powerfull, with dense tannins. The Clos Saint-Jacques 1st growth has the taste of its soils and this only characteristic is an asset.
