Description
  •  Presentation of the winery

It’s three generations of winemakers, Armand, Charles and Eric who made the Rousseau's winery one of the most famous Burgundy family. The vineyard consists of 14 acres of pinot noir. The area of 3.5 hectares in the 1st Crus and Grands Crus 8.5 hectares, including Chambertin and Chambertin-Clos de Beze. The domain is the incarnation of the Burgundian tradition.

  • Lavaux Saint-Jacques

Toponyms in "vaux" indicate a depression. It should be reason by "Ponsage" of the rock by gravel coming from the combe Lavaux.

The two parcels are located at the bottom of the slope, at the beginning of the Combe Lavaux. This appellation is usually harvested last because of the cool night breeze which makes the grapes ripen slower.

The soil is composed of 33 % of limestone with 25 cm of very fine gravel coming from the alluvial cone. At the top of the plot, the grapes are grown on Premeaux limestone but the rest is loamy limestone, both date back to Bathonien. The soil produced by these rocks is in general less deep, dark but rich in light calcareous stones.

  • Wine

The wine produced is firm with a good roundness in the mouth, with an aroma of red fruits predominantly cherry. Elegance, freshness and minerality are the characteristics of this very good Premier Cru.
