Jura estate in the Arbois vineyard
The Domaine de Saint Pierre is the pride of Fabrice Dodane. This talented winemaker acquired the vineyards and the estate from his former employers, Hubert and Renaud Moyne, in 2012 (after he had been working with them since the late 1980's and just one year after it officially converted to organic viticulture, thanks to his advice). Fabrice's property is located in the Jura region, more precisely in the tiny commune of Mathenay (a village with barely 150 souls in total), not too far from Arbois.
Saint Pierre is a vineyard covering about 6 hectares, with vines growing in a soil mainly composed of a mixture of clay, limestone rocks, and gray marls. Fabrice cultivates several grape varieties here, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Savagnin, and Poulsard. Thanks to them, he produces wines that can be described as authentic and perfectly reflecting their local terroir.
