Tasting notes for the Les Brûlées Nature 2017 - Domaine Saint-Pierre

  • EYE: Its golden robe and brilliant reflections announce the brilliance of this Jura Chardonnay. Crystal-clear and lively, it captivates the eye with its visual vivacity.
  • NOSE: Delicate aromas of white flowers and yellow-fleshed fruits waft from the glass, transporting us to the Jura hillside. Subtle notes of hazelnut and fresh butter gently mingle, creating an elegant and balanced bouquet.
  • MOUTH: The lively freshness evolves harmoniously into a velvety texture. The distinctive minerality of the terroir expresses itself with elegance, supported by flavors of pear and lemon. The masterful balance, somewhere between acidity and roundness, offers a persistent finish and a refined imprint on the palate.

In short: This Arbois "Les Brûlées Nature" 2017, produced by Fabrice Dodane, showcases its golden robe, floral and fruity nose, and balanced palate. A wine you should open within 5 to 7 years to fully appreciate its potential. It will enhance many dishes such as a morel mushroom chicken fricassee, seared scallops, creamy wild mushroom risotto, Comté and walnut tart, or mature alpine cheeses.

Jura estate in the Arbois vineyard

The Domaine de Saint Pierre is the pride of Fabrice Dodane. This talented winemaker acquired the vineyards and the estate from his former employers, Hubert and Renaud Moyne, in 2012 (after he had been working with them since the late 1980's and just one year after it officially converted to organic viticulture, thanks to his advice). Fabrice's property is located in the Jura region, more precisely in the tiny commune of Mathenay (a village with barely 150 souls in total), not too far from Arbois.

Saint Pierre is a vineyard covering about 6 hectares, with vines growing in a soil mainly composed of a mixture of clay, limestone rocks, and gray marls. Fabrice cultivates several grape varieties here, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Savagnin, and Poulsard. Thanks to them, he produces wines that can be described as authentic and perfectly reflecting their local terroir.
