- Grand Cru Montrachet
The history of this great wine begins in 13th century, at the time the Cistercian Maizières receive the first vines "Montrachaz" located between Puligny and Chassagne. But it is really in the 19th century that this grand cru will be recognized at fair value, indeed the greatest poets and even the writers emphasize in their writings. Alexandre Dumas said that this wine "should be drunk kneeling and bareheaded." Montrachet acquired a reputation of white wine, Bâtard-Montrachet unlike and Bienvenue-Montrachet, which are renowned for the production of red wine.
