The story of the Domaine Giuseppe Rinaldi began when the aforementioned Giuseppe was toying with the idea of creating his very own wine estate. Back then, he wished to make his own wine, instead of simply selling his harvest to the Falletti family, as his peers had been doing for decades. At the time, the Rinaldi family founded its own estate in 1870 but Giuseppe yearned for independence. He wanted to make his dream wine, which is why he bought another estate in Barolo, in the Italian Piedmont, in the 1920's. He then acquired a few parcels, located in Ravera, Brunate, Cannubi and Le Coste. The grape varieties he selected were local ones, such as Barbera, Freisa, Ruché and Dolcetto.

The estate was flourishing, thanks to Giuseppe's hard work. His son Battista Rinaldi, inherited the estate from his dad when he died and chose to do everything in his power to improve the wine quality. To do so, he developed new winemaking techniques. In 1992, Battista died and left the family estate in the capable hands of his son Giuseppe Jr. (also simply known as Beppe). Former veterinarian, Beppe had been helping his winemaker of a dad since he was 19 years old. Nicknamed "Citrico", because of his highly critical spirit as well as his strict work ethics, Beppe was probably the most well-known member of the entire Rinaldi family.

His extremely traditional ways could produce a wine that's very natural, powerful and structured; full of aromas and capable of aging gracefully. In 2000, he gave an interview to a magazine called "The Art of Eating", during which he explained that his wine was designed to be elegant but austere. For Beppe, wine was supposed to be exactly like art: you need to take the time to think and better appreciate the experience. He died in 2018, and his two daughters Marta and Carlotta inherited the estate as well as its 7 hectares of vineyard. Giuseppe Rinaldi Jr. was the last of the most celebrated Italian winemakers in the country, with Teobaldo Cappellano and Bartolo Mascarello.
