Talented Santenay winemaker
In 1997, Jean-Marc and his wife Anne-Marie inherited a wine estate that belonged to Jean-Marc's grandfather, André Bardollet-Bravard. The 3,5 hectares of vineyard planted during the early 1950's had been leased since André retired, in 1970. At the time, his daughter Charlotte (Jean-Marc's mother) was unable to take care of the estate, so she let another farmer use the land for his crops instead. André's grandson was the one who brought the estate back on the scene. Before he could reopen for business, the young oenology graduate had to renovate everything, from the equipment to the grapevines, as it all was in total disarray. For the Vincent estate, it was a true renaissance.
In this Santenay vineyard (located on the famous Côte de Beaune, in Burgundy), which is now twice the size as its former incarnation, the couple produces a wine that's almost 100% organic (they have no official certification but they follow the organic winemaking guidelines to the letter, for the vast majority of the cuvées; the grapes are harvested by hand, for example). Jean-Marc and Anne-Marie also have a trading house, and they buy grapes from local winegrowers. Each year, 40,000 bottles are produced by the Vincent estate. Jean-Marc is stille looking to perfect his style and he never stopped asking questions. This is what drives him to make such elegant and balanced wines, that are highly sought-after by connoisseurs.
