Description
  •  Presentation of the winery

Built under the reign of Napoléon III (1848-1870) in the small town of Gassin, the Château Minuty was bought by Gabriel Farnet (a fervent advocate of Provence wine appellations) in 1936. At the time, the vineyard next to the estate, which took its name from a 17th century winemaker called Joseph Minuty, lied fallow. Gabriel decided to plant grape vines again and to resume the wine production. Little by little, the estate gained notoriety, until it received the “Grand Cru” mention in 1955.

Gabriel’s daughter Monique and her husband Étienne Matton then took the helm during the 1960s. They continued the work by growing traditional Provence grape varieties, such as Grenache, Tibouren, Syrah or Rolle. The couple also decided to lower the yields, in order to concentrate on quality instead of quantity. Thus began a question for perfection, which allowed the Château Minuty’s reputation to skyrocket, elevating it to the rank of one of the Côte d’Azur’s best wine estates.

Since the 1990s, the couple’s two sons, Jean-Étienne and François Matton, have been taking care of the castle and its 170 hectares of vineyard (with a mix of limestone and schist soils). The estate produces 2.5 million bottles each year: rosé wines, but also white and red ones. In 2014, Minuty became the “Number One Estate of Saint-Tropez”, according to the magazine La Revue du Vin de France.
