- Presentation of the winery
Robert Groffier Père et Fils, founded in the 30's, is held by Robert Groffier, accompanied by his son Nicolas, managing the production since 2005. This Burgundian estate produces exclusively red wines, on an area of 8 hectares. Low yields and non-interventionist methods, are used to ensure excellent production quality. Velvety texture, aroma nobility and native tang could define the productions from this field.
- Wine
Bonnes Mares is a burgundian Grand Cru, produced in Côte de Nuits. This is one of the most famous wines of this vineyard, recognized worldwide for its finesse and quality. This small vineyard of 15 hectares is located straddling the towns of Morey St Denis and Chambolle Musigny.
The Bonnes Mares offers a very dense ruby color. The nose is complex and very refined, it opens with notes of red fruits such as thin raspberry, cherry... Black fruit aromas are also present.
On the palate it is fine, nice, wine gradually unfolds and reveals its incomparable texture, but it also reveals present tannins. The aromatic richness is developped on a very long finish.
The production of Groffier Estate, well noted by the tasters, will offer you finesse and length.

Family vineyard in Chambolle-Musigny
As a former professional cyclist, Jules Groffier was very familiar with France. During the 1950s, he decided to dedicate his life to his other passion: winemaking. He left his bike to go work on his family's Burgundian estate, founded by his father Frédéric in the little village of Morey-Saint-Denis. There, he would take care of vines planted during the 1930s, until his death in 1974. After his passing, his son Robert took the helm of the estate.
Robert Groffier has a deep respect for the terroir and the family traditions. He takes extremely good care of the 8 hectares of vineyard he inherited, growing in Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny (this latter parcel produces the famous First Growth "Les Amoureuses"). His life ambition? To create the kinds of wines that can really express the power of the grapes, instead of the effect of the winemaking process itself.
In 2005, Robert left the reins of the family estate to his son Nicolas. He represents the fourth generation of Groffier, as attached to nature and family values as his ancestors. Together, father and son are now among the very best winemakers of the Côte de Nuits, thanks to their fine and smooth wines. Acclaimed by connoisseurs, their wines can age gracefully and will reveal themselves after a dozen years of cellaring.
