Description

Pierre and his sister Anne are the children of famous winemaker Bernard Boisson. Together, they’ve taken the helm of the Domaine Boisson-Vadot in 2017. A third of the 10 hectares family vineyard, whose grape vines were planted during the 1940s, is occupied by Pierre. There, he experiments on his own wines, on top of producing the estate’s. This more personal output is mainly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Inspired by Raphaël Coche-Dury’s style, Pierre sticks to traditional methods: no chemical fertilizers and plowing is done entirely by hand. Grapes are picked once they have fully matured, as a way to ensure a great tension in his wines, which are not filtered. He’s also chosen to have low yields and long aging (more than a dozen months) in oak barrels.

True precision work, by a winemaker who can easily shift between managing the family estate and its traditional wines, and producing his own vintages. The latter are a more low-key endeavor, although their prices remain extremely reasonable. With his sister Anne, Pierre is one of the best examples of what the new generation of Meursault winemakers can offer.
