Tasting notes for the Meursault Les Grands Charrons 2018 - Domaine Pierre Boisson
- EYE: Brilliant golden color, typical of Meursault white wines. The robe is luminous, indicating a well-aged wine.
- NOSE: Complex and enticing bouquet. Aromas of white-fleshed fruits such as apple, pear, and peach harmoniously blend with hints of clementine, pastry, hazelnut, and toasted almond. A subtle touch of vanilla from oak barrel aging completes this aromatic profile.
- MOUTH: Beautifully rich and creamy texture, supported by well-balanced acidity. The fruity flavors unfold with intensity, offering ripe white-fleshed fruit notes, citrus zest, and honey. A slight mineral sensation, characteristic of Meursault wines, adds complexity. The finish is long and persistent, leaving a delightful impression of freshness and elegance on the palate.

A Meursault winemaking family
Son of famous winemaker Bernard Boisson (who’s well known for his work at the Domaine Boisson-Vadot) and brother of Anne Boisson, Pierre works with his family and also offers his own brand of wines. Since 2017, Bernard’s two children have been helping their father run the family business. The 3.5 hectares parcel Pierre is currently cultivating is located on his dad’s vineyard, near the village of Meursault (on the Côte de Beaune).
Here, everything works just like it did in the good old days: no chemical fertilizers, the soil is hand tilled, the winemaking process takes a long time, the wines aren’t filtered… A technical work, just like his father Bernard taught him. The advice from his good friend Raphaël Coche is also a real boon to him. This made the Domaine, with its pure and tense wines, one of the best kept secrets in the entire Burgundy region.
