- Presentation of the winery
Working in the family estate (Marc Colin et Fils) until 2005, Pierre-Yves Colin initiates his own activity in 2001, creating with his wife Caroline Morey a grape purchasing company, allowing him to implement its first vinification. Colin-Morey estate was born in October 2005, when Pierre-Yves Colin decided to launch his own production, thanks to the 6 hectares of vineyards inherited from the family vineyard. The estate is established in the municipality of Chassagne-Montrachet, and produces famous wines such as Saint Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Santenay or Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Corton.
Working in the utmost respect of soils and terroirs, the estate produces about 70,000 bottles annually, resulting in two thirds from the estate's vineyards, the remaining third being derived from purchased grapes. To produce wines with native tang, Domaine Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey ensures the control of yields, the harvest is done at maturity. The wine is grown up without to many interventions.
- Wine
The white Chassagne-Montrachet is very characteristic : its color is golden yellow with green highlights. On the nose, floral notes are very present, followed by mineral aromas. The palate is frank, revealing the finesse and delicacy of the region.

The genius of Chassagne-Montrachet
Pierre-Yves is the son of famous Burgundian winemaker Marc Colin, well-known by Saint-Aubin enthusiasts, and the husband of Caroline Morey. After a dozen years spent working with his father, the young Pierre-Yves decided to create his very own estate in 2005. He set his sights on Chassagne-Montrachet, a charming little village from the Côte de Beaune, next to a rich vineyard that was planted during the 4th century.
Pierre-Yves owns 6 hectares, which belonged to the Colin family, and produces many appellations such as the Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet or Santenay... In total, the estate makes around 70 000 bottles per year. Here, a considerable time and effort are spent on the entire winemaking process, from what happens in the vineyard to what goes in the bottles.
Pierre-Yves works without stirring lees and doesn't filter his wines. His philosophy stems from a deep respect for nature. Terroir is the most important thing at the Domaine Colin-Morey, which is why Pierre-Yves is constantly looking for sustainable ways to fight pests. This very selective use of pesticides could even be seen as a first step towards more organic methods.
