Stéphane Riffault strongly and skillfully oversees the management of the family estate in Sury-en-Vaux, at the heart of the Sancerre vineyard. Having honed his skills in Beaune, Burgundy, he returned to his homeland in 2001 after having worked at Château Angélus (in Saint-Émilion). Driven by a passion for terroir expression, Stéphane favors parcel-specific cuvées, giving meticulous attention to the vinification and aging process of each plot. The gradual transition to organic farming from 2012, followed by biodynamics and the complete certification of the estate in 2021, reflects his commitment to viticulture that respects the harmony between the vine and its environment, which can be found in his unique and vibrant wines.

The Domaine Claude Riffault spans 15.3 hectares, showcasing the diversity of its terroirs, ranging from marls to layered limestones and flints. Meticulous winemaking and precise aging of the wines in concrete vats and wooden barrels contribute to the exceptional quality of the cuvées. The vines, grown in plowed herb-covered soils, receive meticulous attention to ensure controlled yields and optimal maturation. Stéphane continuously explores new approaches, such as the use of stakes, to obtain rich and concentrated fruits. The resulting wines are admired for their authenticity and elegance.
