Tasting notes for the Château Léoville Las Cases 2010

  • EYE: The bottle displays a deep and intense red color, with violet reflections. Its color is both rich and concentrated.
  • NOSE: A complex and captivating aromatic bouquet. Intense aromas of ripe black fruits such as blackcurrant and blackberry blend harmoniously with elegant notes of cedar, tobacco, and licorice. Subtle nuances of dark chocolate and roasted coffee bring a gourmet and refined dimension.
  • MOUTH: The wine reveals power and structure. A velvety texture envelops the palate, while rich flavors of black fruits, cassis, and black cherry unfold with intensity. Notes of licorice, tobacco, and noble wood harmoniously mingle, offering additional complexity. The tannins are present but perfectly integrated, providing a firm structure and an impressive length on the palate.

In short: This Château Léoville Las Cases 2010 is truly an exceptional wine. Its deep red color, complex aromatic bouquet, and powerful, structured palate make it a remarkable wine. With a long aging potential of at least 10 to 15 years, or even more, it offers the opportunity to savor a great vintage at its peak after a few years of aging. It will pair perfectly with flavorful meat dishes such as beef fillet, roasted lamb, or game birds. It also complements aged cheeses like Comté or mature Cheddar. An ideal choice for lovers of powerful, complex, and elegant wines.

Château Léoville Las Cases

One of the greatest wine estates in Saint-Julien

Château Léoville Las Cases is a winery in the Saint-Julien appellation of Bordeaux, not far from the famous Château Latour. The name of the castle "Château Léoville Las Cases" is also the name of the red wine produced by this property. The wine produced here was classified as one of fifteen Deuxièmes Crus in the original Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855.

Léoville-Las Cases was one of the first winery in Bordeaux to introduce a second wine named "Clos du Marquis". Since 2007, the Chateau has offered a new wine known as “Le Petit Lion de Marquis de Las Cases”. The vineyard area in total represents 97 hectares. The largest plot (60 hectares) of Léoville-Las Cases vineyards is known as the "Grand Clos".

The "Grand Clos" is located on the northern boundary of St-Julien, with only the Juillac tributary separating its vineyards from those of Château Latour. The grape variety distribution of the vineyard is 65% of Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% of Merlot, 12% of Cabernet Franc and 3% of Petit Verdot. Today the vines average 30 years of age.
