The vineyards of Cos d'Estournel cover 91 hectares, they are located south of Saint-Estèphe on extra deep gravelly soils in calcareous soil. The vineyard is 60% of Cabernet Sauvignon, mainly on gravel soils of the summit and slopes of 40% Merlot on slopes and coasts. The estate produces a second wine called “Les Pagodes de Cos”.
Les Pagodes de Cos 2010 has a red color with purple hues. The nose of this wine offers notes of red fruits such as blackcurrant, blackberry, but also hints of spring flowers, licorice, and toast. On the palate, this wine is fine, powerful, balanced, elegant. This wine has a beautiful texture and a long finish. This second wine is placed over some classified ONES, messing up the hierarchy.
