Saint-Aubin 1st Growth Derrière chez Edouard Haute densité 2022 - Domaine Hubert Lamy
Saint-Aubin, 1st Growth, Derrière chez Edouard, Haute intensité, 2022 Vintage, Hubert Lamy Estate
Tasting Notes – Saint-Aubin 1er Cru “Derrière Chez Édouard” Haute Densité 2022 – Domaine Hubert Lamy
APPEARANCE: Pale golden hue, bright and crystalline, announcing tension and purity.
NOSE: Deep and refined bouquet, combining white flowers, citrus zest, and a pronounced chalky minerality. The aromatic intensity reflects the unique concentration brought by high-density planting.
PALATE: The vines are planted at 20,000 vines per hectare (compared to the traditional 10,000), naturally reducing vigor, producing smaller berries, and concentrating the aromas. This translates directly in the glass: the attack is straight, vibrant, and precise, with a dense yet elegant texture. Flavors of juicy pear, candied lemon, and fresh almond unfold with clarity. The saline, impressively long finish combines restrained power with radiant freshness.
In summary: Saint-Aubin 1er Cru “Derrière Chez Édouard” Haute Densité 2022 embodies Hubert Lamy’s innovative vision: an exceptional wine of intensity and precision, standing as a benchmark for the appellation. Already superb with refined seafood or noble fish, it will continue to gain in complexity and depth with age.

Domaine Hubert Lamy
Incredible Saint-Aubin wines
The Hubert Lamy vineyard is located in the town of Saint-Aubin, in the Burgundy region. The Lamy family has been involved in winemaking for several generations, as they have been growing vines and taking care of their vineyard since the year 1640. Hubert Lamy created his own wine estate in 1973, which now extends over more than 18 hectares of land.
Initially, the Domaine Hubert Lamy mainly produced white wines from the Saint-Aubin appellation, but over the years, the family acquired new plots in neighboring appellations such as Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru. The domain now produces red wines as well as white wines (around 75% of the production comes from Chardonnay grapes, the rest is from Pinot Noir). Hubert Lamy constantly strives to improve the quality of his wines by adopting sustainable viticultural practices and using modern winemaking techniques.
In 1995, Olivier Lamy joined his father at his Côte de Beaune estate and brought with him a slew of new ideas to continue this quality-based approach that allows the terroir to fully express itself (which actually became the hallmark of the estate). Today, the Domaine Hubert Lamy is considered to be one of the best producers of white wines in Burgundy, with wines renowned for their smoothness, elegance, and ability to age gracefully. The domain is currently run by Olivier Lamy, who continues to work in the respect of family traditions.
