Riesling Clos Sainte Hune 1999 - Maison Trimbach
AOC Riesling, Clos Sainte Hune, Vintage 1999, Maison Trimbach
Tasting notes for the Riesling "Clos Sainte Hune" 1999 - Maison Trimbach
- EYE: The wine has a deep golden color, almost amber, with brilliant reflections. Its clarity is perfect, reflecting the quality of this wine. The viscosity of the liquid is visible, leaving slow-running "legs" on the sides of the glass.
- NOSE: Complex and expressive. Intense aromas of ripe yellow-fleshed fruits such as apricot and ripe peach blend with delicate notes of white flowers, honey, and exotic fruits. Mineral and petrol nuances, typical of high-quality mature Rieslings, can also be detected.
- MOUTH: Rich and concentrated. The flavors of ripe fruits unfold generously, offering notes of candied apricot, juicy peach, and preserved lemon. Lively acidity brings freshness and balance, while hints of honey, flowers, and minerality blend elegantly. The tannins are almost imperceptible, emphasizing the wine's purity and finesse. The finish is long, persistent, and leaves a sense of fullness in the mouth.
In short: The Riesling "Clos Sainte Hune" 1999 from Maison Trimbach is a wine of great complexity and exceptional depth. Its expressive nose and concentrated palate make it a true treasure. It pairs perfectly with refined dishes such as shellfish, noble fish, and poultry in creamy sauces. It can also be enjoyed on its own to fully appreciate its aromatic richness. In terms of aging, this Riesling has already reached an ideal stage of maturity but can still be cellared for 5 to 10 years under proper conditions to allow for slight evolution. It is a wine that will continue to improve with time and offer new aromatic nuances over the years. With its small production limited to 1.5 hectares of terroir, don't miss the opportunity to experience it!

Flagship wines of Alsace
Founded during the 17th century by Jean Trimbach, the Maison Trimbach is located in Ribeauvillé (Haut-Rhin region, on the Alsace Wine Route). The family owns over 40 hectares of vineyard, sprawling across a few villages such as Hunawihr, Bergheim or Mittelwihr. In this region, the limestone soil is perfect for Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Sylvaner...
The Trimbach Family is known for taking great care of its vines, and nature in general. One of their most prestigious "cuvées" is the Clos Sainte Hune, dubbed "World's Best Riesling" according to Serge Dubs (World's Best Sommelier in 1989), created 200 years ago. It comes from a great growth monopole called the "Rosacker d'Hunawihr" (1,67 hectare), and only 8000 bottles of this very special Riesling can be produced each year.
