Organic wine made in Alsace
The Vincent Stoeffler wine estate is located in the town of Barr, in Alsace, and has been producing wine since the beginning of the 18th century. The Stoeffler family has been the owner and manager since 1785; nine generations in total. The current estate was founded by Charles Stoeffler, the grandfather. In 1968, Vincent Stoeffler succeeded his father and began to modernize the facilities and develop direct sales. His son Adrien joined the family business after a few years.
In 2002, the estate had its 13 hectares of vineyards certified fully organic, which implies a complete lack of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Since then, they have also adopted practices straight from biodynamic viticulture (natural teas and composts), leaving human interventionism behind. The vineyards are composed of 80% white grape varieties, such as Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Sylvaner, and Pinot Blanc. A small plot in the Stoeffler vineyard is solely dedicated to Pinot Noir.
Today, the Domaine Vincent Stoeffler is considered one of the best natural wine producers in Alsace, with a varied range of wines (over 40 different cuvées in total), ranging from dry and fruity white wines to sweet dessert wines. They are regularly recognized for their work, especially for their famous "Kirchberg de Barr" Riesling, which has won numerous awards. In May 2022, it even received the official designation of Pinot Noir Grand Cru.
