Tasting notes for the Lirac 2018 - L'Anglore

  • EYE: The wine unveils a deep robe of intense red, reminiscent of the brilliance of a precious ruby. Its perfect clarity foretells a sensory-rich experience.
  • NOSE: On the olfactory level, subtle aromas of ripe black fruits, such as cherry and blackberry, intertwine with delicate floral notes. Woody and spicy accents add complexity, creating an elegant and balanced bouquet.
  • MOUTH: The tasting reveals a silky texture and well-integrated tannins. Flavors of black cherry, licorice, thyme, and cocoa unfold with controlled intensity, while the freshness in the mouth emphasizes the elegance of this cuvée.

In short: This Lirac 2018 from L'Anglore, with its visual brilliance, refined bouquet, and complexity on the palate, emerges as a wine of great finesse. To be enjoyed within 5 to 10 years, it will elevate dishes such as morel mushroom beef fillet, roasted duck breast, grilled lamb chops, and aged goat cheese.

Natural wines from the Rhône Valley

L'Anglore is the story of one man: Éric Pfifferling. A former beekeeper, like his dad before him, who lost all his beehives during a flood in 2002 but found a new passion for winemaking. After the incident, he decided to revive his grandmother's 7 hectares vineyard (located near Tavel, a village in the Gard department) and start his own estate. The very first thing he did was to work using fully organic methods. Later on, on his never ending quest to protect nature, Éric chose to try biodynamics. He is now 100% certified by Ecocert.

The Pfifferling estate uses full grapes and doesn't filter its wines, thus leaning heavily toward the natural wine niche. Éric Pfifferling's entire style is an ode to ripe fruits, resulting in rich cuvées that are full of tension and freshness. People actually often say that he makes Beaujolais wines, but in the Rhône Valley. With the precious help of his wife Marie and two sons, Thibaud and Joris, Éric continues to take care of his estate and vineyard. His vintages have become quite famous over the years, in the little world of natural wine, and are often sold out everywhere.
