Grands crus estate in Meursault
Created in 1885, in the village of Volnay, by Henri Boillot, the eponymous estate owns some of the best appellations found on the Côte de Beaune (like the Puligny-Montrachet, the Corton-Charlemagne and many others). Henri’s grandson (who inherited his first name) came to the estate in 1975 to help his father, Jean. After only a few years, he proved himself worthy to become the new owner of the 15 hectares vineyard. He created his very own trading company in 1996, and bought all his dad’s shares in 2005.
The Meursault estate owes its success and reputation to its white wines, some of the best on the Côte d’Or. Henri Boillot, a proud 5th generation winemaker, now assisted by his son Guillaume (who specializes in red wines), manages the vineyard with passion and precision. He has divided it in two parts: white wines (1er Crus Chardonnay in Meursault, Puligny and the Clos de la Mouchère); and red wines (1ers crus Pinot Noir in Savigny, Beaune and Volnay).
Henri produces exceptional cuvées, born from 100% sustainable agriculture. This means no chemical herbicide or pesticides and very limited yields. The decisions made by the father and son help the wines to retain the purity found in the Burgundy terroir. And it’s working too, since famous wine critic Robert Parker ranked the two winemakers and their wines among the best ones available in the Côte d’Or.
