The most elegant Champagne
The story of the Pouillon family started in 1947, with Roger Pouillon. He began making his own wine in his little Mareuil-sur-Aÿ estate, in Champagne (the Marne Valley, to be more precise). He's been working with his son James since 1965. And then with his grandson Fabrice (and Fabrice's wife Élodie) since 1998. Just like their father and grandfather used to do back in the day, James and Fabrice honor the family legacy. A combination of traditions, sincerity and innovation. Their roots firmly planted in the ground and their heads held up high, looking to the future.
The Pouillon vineyard stretches over a dozen hectares (it goes as far as the Côte de Blancs), divided into 36 smaller parcels, each more incredible than the other. There are some truly wonderful terroirs here, such as the Mutigny, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Aÿ Grand Cru or Épernay. The grapevine distribution leans heavily towards the Pinot Noir, with a touch of Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. The family's philosophy, inspired by organic winemaking methods, hasn't changed since the 1940's: leave the grapevines and the wine alone, respect nature and customers.
