The true essence of the Meursault terroir
The Domaine Rémi Jobard may be on the small side (only 9 hectares of vineyard), it is one of the finest in all of Burgundy. Rémi comes from a long line of winemakers, who've been producing Meursault wines since the 16th century. He officially started his career in 1991, when he released his very first vintage. Two years later, his father Charles entrusted him with the keys to the Jobard family estate.
Rémi is a nature lover first and foremost. That's exactly why he decided in 1998 to drastically lower the yields and to care for his grapevines by hand (harvesting, plowing, vinifying...) like his ancestors used to do in the past. In 2005, still sticking to his guns, Rémi Jobard switched the entire estate to biodynamic agriculture. Six years after that, he obtained the Ecocert certification.
In his vineyard, Rémi only uses natural fertilizers, to preserve the essence of the terroir. Since he doesn't want to tamper with the vinification process, all the produced wines are unfiltered, making them the purest they can be, which is something Rémi takes pride in. The Domaine Jobard is renowned for fine and structured mineral wines, whose freshness and cellaring potential are simply astonishing.
