An artist of the vineyard in Meursault
Elected "Man of the Year" by the Bettane & Desseauve wine guide in 2012, Arnaud Ente still deserves the title. According to critic Michel Bettane, his white wines are "the most advanced [...] in the entire world when it comes to Chardonnay." The winemaker, who was also nicknamed the Rising Star of Meursault for a few years, is now considered to be one of the greatest artists of the vineyard in the Côte de Beaune.
With the help of his wife Marie-Odile, his son Pierre, and his two employees, Arnaud Ente takes care of his 4.5 hectares of vineyard the way he would his garden. Although, you need to understand that the man is a true perfectionist (and an inspiration to his brother Benoît). He strives for balance, in all things. Arnaud Ente not only seeks to produce the purest wines possible, he is also constantly trying to find a fragile equilibrium between tension and texture. Acidity and volume.
The concept of precision is very close to his heart. Everything is adjusted and calibrated round the clock... from picking the grapes to pruning the vines. Furthermore, respecting the Burgundy terroir is a real duty for him. Which explains why the yields are extremely low. Of course, Arnaud Ente only uses organic methods in his vineyard (he is a proud recipient of the French "Agriculture Biologique" certification).
