Tasting notes for the Meursault 1er cru "Les Charmes du Milieu" 2022 - Bernard-Bonin

  • EYE: he pale golden hue of this premier cru unfolds in the glass, evoking a soft light filtered through summer leaves.
  • NOSE: The aromas unfurl with a subtle intrigue. Notes of white-fleshed fruits, such as fresh pear and crisp apple, intertwine harmoniously with light floral undertones. In the background, delicate hints of vanilla and almond add a touch of sweetness.
  • MOUTH: A silky texture reveals itself straight away, skillfully balancing freshness and generosity. Persistent flavors of ripe fruits are supported by subtle woody nuances. The fresh and prolonged finish leaves an elegant impression.

In short: The Meursault 1er Cru "Les Charmes du Milieu" 2022 from the renowned Domaine Bernard-Bonin, with its delicate golden robe, offers a balanced and nuanced experience. One of Meursault's shiniest gems

Before the Domaine Bernard-Bonin, there was the Domaine Michelot. It belonged to Bernard Michelot, Véronique Bonin's grandfather and one of the most well-respected winemakers in Meursault (he passed away in April 2016, at the age of 89). Bernard was the 6th generation in a family of vintners that has always been deeply attached to nature. Thanks to his hard work, he managed to make his Burgundy estate famous in the entire country (and beyond) during the 1960's. In 1998, Bernard decided to leave his 20 hectares vineyard to his three daughters: Geneviève, Chantal and Odile.

One year later, Geneviève and his daughter Véronique went their own way. The duo founded a new 7 hectares wine estate on the Côte de Beaune: the Domaine Michelot Mère et Fille. Meanwhile, Odile married Jean-François Mestre (who was a young viticulture and oenology graduate at the time) and they both took the helm of the Domaine Michelot a few years later, with the help of Bernard's third daughter Chantal. As for Véronique, when she met her future husband Nicolas Bernard, she convinced her mother to entrust them with the estate.

Véronique and Nicolas immediately began their quest for the authentic Meursault terroir, which explains why they invested all their efforts in Rudolf Steiner's biodynamic philosophy. Nowadays, the tilling is entirely done by horse; the use of copper is completely forbidden (even though many organic methods authorize it); there are no chemicals whatsoever in the vineyard; the grapevine illnesses are prevented and treated using 100% natural solutions… Thanks to these choices, the harvest gives rich and juicy fruits, which in turn produce pure and dynamic wines.
