Winemaker in Mercurey
The Domaine Bruno Lorenzon, located in Mercurey in the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise, embodies the excellence of Burgundian viticulture with a particular focus on the purity of its wines. Founded in the 1920s by Georges Lorenzon and passed down to his grandson Bruno in 1997, the estate now covers approximately 9 hectares, encompassing the Mercurey and Montagny appellations, doubling its original size. Bruno Lorenzon's philosophy centers on a profound respect for the terroir, emphasizing organic viticulture (Ecocert certified).
As a third-generation vigneron with an unconventional background, Bruno took over the family estate after gaining international experience as a consultant. His mind is fixated on the purity and minerality of the wines. He is dedicated to preserving the natural balance of the vine by avoiding additives. The soil, in fact, has not seen any chemical products for over 30 years. Bruno meticulously works in his vineyard, promoting high density of grapevines per hectare and a vine height that's optimal for photosynthesis.
Bruno Lorenzon allows each vintage to express its identity, rejecting any chaptalization or acidification. His past experience in cooperage also enables him to design his own wooden wine barrels, carefully selected in Burgundy. The estate's approach aims to blend tradition and modernity, with a winemaker who steps aside and gives time to the wine, allowing nature to fully express itself.
