The prestige of the Côte de Nuits
The Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat, created in 1962 by Alain Hudelot, spans over 10 hectares, connecting 4 villages from the Côte de Nuits (in Burgundy), and includes 15 appellations. In 2008, at the age of 67, Alain decided to retire and left the entire estate in the capable hands of his grandson, Charles van Canneyt (who had just finished his studies at the time). He became the guardian of the family traditions, working with one of his grandfather's former partners, Vincent Meunier.
The grapevines found in the the estate's vineyard (Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Richebourg, Clos-de-Vougeot, Vosne-Romanée...) were originally planted during the 1920's. The ultimate mission of this family of winemakers has always been to help the terroir shine through their wine, as well as to avoid having too frequent human intervention during the vatting process. Now as before, the vineyard's health remains the only preoccupation.
