Promising wine estate of Gevrey-Chambertin

The love story between the Duroché family and the vineyard has been going on since 1906. Back then, Louis Duroché bought his first parcel on the Côte de Nuits (in Burgundy) and founded the original wine estate. He was helped by his son Émile Duroché, to whom he taught two important things: respect nature and be proud of the work you do. When Louis died, Émile inherited the estate and its vineyard. And then Émile left everything to his son, Philippe Duroché (Louis' grandson). Philippe was responsible for the estate's biggest expansion, as he bought 5 additional hectares of grapevines. Gilles Duroché, the great-grandson of Louis, was next in line. He acquired more parcels of vineyard, bringing the total surface to 8 hectares. Finally, Pierre Duroché entered the picture a few years back. He is Louis' great-great-grandson and the guardian of his legacy.

His arrival marked a huge shift in the Duroché estate's philosophy. In 2003, Pierre decided to bottle the wine that he produced. Before that year, every grape harvest used to be sold to local merchants! In his Gevrey-Chambertin estate, Pierre Duroché has a simple objective: to let the terroir express itself freely. Uninterrupted. Nature must prevail, free from any kind of chemical many other winemakers often use in their vineyards. As a result, he can only make 25,000 bottles per year. It's not much, but it's by design: nothing happens here without reason.

Pierre is a thorough and tireless winemaker, giving birth to beautiful wines. They're so pure and elegant that many people now openly compare the young prodigy to his Gevrey-Chambertin neighbors. A very talented man, with an incredible legacy at his fingertips. The appellations you can find in the Domaine Duroché are impressive indeed, like for example the 4 grands crus: Charmes-Chambertin, Griotte-ChambertinLatricières-Chambertin and Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze.
