The Domaine Dominique Gallois, located in Gevrey-Chambertin, has been making some of the best Burgundy wines around since 1901. It all started with Guillaume Bizot, who built an estate that reached as far as the town of Volnay at the time. When he died, many new owners came out of the woodwork and the vineyard, unfortunately, lost its shine over the years.

Until the day Charlotte Gallois inherited 2.5 hectares of grapevines, which she gave to her son Jean. For nearly 40 years, he took care of the estate, helping it grow before handing the reins over to his own son Dominique in 1989. Charlotte's grandson was the one who modernized the facilities and decided to bottle and sell the wine in the estate (instead of simply selling the entire production to local wine merchants).

For Dominique Gallois, working in the vineyard means respecting nature and what it offers us. He's very keen on the “laissez-faire” approach, giving more liberty to the grapevines so they can really transmit the real taste of the terroir. Dominique is naturally against all sorts of pesticide or herbicide. The estate produces Bourgogne Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, as well as Gevrey-Chambertin Village. Plus three Premiers Crus (Combe aux Moines, Petits Cazetiers and Goulots) and one Grand Cru (the Charmes Chambertin).
