Tasting notes for the Château Galoupet Rosé 2023 - Cru Classé de Provence

  • EYE: The Château Galoupet 2021 adorns itself with a pale, bright, and crystalline pink robe, reminiscent of the juicy flesh of wild strawberries. Its delicate color already suggests the characteristic freshness of great Provence rosés.
  • NOSE: This organic rosé reveals a complex aromatic bouquet where the aromas of small red fruits, such as raspberry and currant, intertwine with delicate floral notes of peony. Citrus accents, notably orange zest, complement this perfumed picture.
  • MOUTH: Elegance persists with a lively and fresh attack. The fruity flavors linger, accompanied by subtle minerality that adds a sophisticated dimension. The structure is balanced, offering a beautiful harmony between liveliness and roundness, characteristic of great classified crus.

In short: The Château Galoupet Rosé 2023 won us over us with its pale pink robe, a complex nose combining red fruits and blossoms, and a balanced palate between fruity freshness and minerality. An organic wine that embodies the excellence of classified crus from Provence. Optimize the tasting of this rosé within 2 to 3 years following its production to preserve its aromatic balance. Beyond that, it could evolve towards spicier nuances without losing its freshness. Pair it with grilled barbecue sardines, salmon tartare, or a generous slice of rhubarb tart.

Provence Classified Growth

The Château Galoupet is a place deeply rooted in the French winemaking landscape since the 18th century, a vineyard that has traversed the ages while preserving its identity. This winery, formerly known as "Le Galoupe," with a coat of arms representing the power of the elements, received the classification of Cru Classé de Provence for its wines in 1955, along with only 17 other estates in the region. Despite its rich history, the Château Galoupet went through hard times, jeopardizing its natural ecosystem due to environmentally unfriendly practices.

Following this, a renaissance took place at the estate in July 2019, led by Jessica Julmy, who saw the 70 hectares of this vineyard as an opportunity to preserve biodiversity while producing exceptional organic wines. Since then, a team of local and international experts has been working collaboratively to restore the delicate dialogue with nature, ensuring to reconnect with every square centimeter of this unique terroir. The result can be observed in every vintage produced at the château.

With its agroecological approach, the estate is re-establishing the connections between the forest, the vineyard, the sea, and the sky, while preserving biodiversity. A multitude of species now coexists here, including bats, insects, and reptiles. Efforts are being made to revitalize the entire ecosystem, including planting trees and investing in beehives to support pollination. Experiments are being conducted, ranging from the use of grape varieties resistant to climate change, to the implementation of biodynamic practices to invigorate the grapevines.
