Tasting notes for the Émilien 2019 - Château Le Puy

  • EYE: The deep purple hue of this Émilien 2019 captures the eye, revealing a dynamic youthfulness. The crystalline clarity and luminous brilliance predict a visually striking tasting experience.
  • NOSE: The delicate bouquet unveils an expressive array of aromas, showcasing powerful notes of red cherry and wild berries. Subtle wafts of oak, intertwined with floral nuances, add aromatic complexity, underscoring the quality of the winemaking.
  • MOUTH: Harmony prevails on the palate. Silky, well-integrated tannins gently caress the palate. The lingering flavors of red fruits evolve with elegance, while a subtle minerality brings additional depth. The vibrant acidity contributes to a refreshing finish.

In short: This 2019 vintage of Château Le Puy's Saint-Émilien could be opened now, but its structure suggests a graceful evolution over 7 to 10 years. Pair it with some grilled ribeye, a venison fillet, a wild mushroom risotto, or a plate of aged cheeses.

Bordeaux Wine since 1610

The Domaine Le Puy is a vineyard located in Saint-Cibard, in the Bordeaux region, overlooking the municipalities of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. With a history dating back over 400 years, the estate was acquired by the Amoreau family in 1610 and has been passed down through generations ever since. The family plays a crucial role in preserving the winemaking tradition and the history of the estate.

Renowned for its lasting commitment to biodynamic viticulture since the 17th century, the Domaine Le Puy's winemakers adhere to environmentally friendly farming practices in harmony with natural cycles, avoiding the use of synthetic chemicals and intervening as less as possible during the vinification process. Biodiversity and soil health are also of paramount importance here. The Domaine Le Puy has been certified by Nature & Progrès since 1964, followed by Ecocert and Demeter in the early 1990s.

Producing a range of high-quality wines, including the famous cuvée Émilien featured in the 2023 hit TV series "Drops of God", the estate utilizes grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Carménère. Described as expressive of the terroir, balanced, and elegant, the wines reflect the estate's commitment to prioritizing quality over quantity. The yield is carefully controlled to ensure the highest quality grapes, contributing to the production of exceptional wines.
