Description
  •  Presentation of the winery

Jacques Selosse  bought his first vineyards in 1947 in Avize, in the heart of Champagne area. Initially trader, he initiated its grower-producer activity and bottled his first vintage in 1964. His son Anselme, current owner, joined him on the estate at the end of his studies in Beaune, where he learned farming methods unused in Champagne.
Anselme Selosse is one of the most outstanding personalities of Champagne, with a very philosophical approach to viticulture and winemaking, resulting in a production recognized worldwide.

  •  Presentation of the vineyard

The 7.5 hectares of estate vineyards are spread over 47 plots. High quality crops  (the grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness, producing low yields) are vinified separately. Anselme Selosse works his vines with a non-interventionist approach, with respect for nature, seeking to sublimate the fruits of his field without erasing their specificities.

  • Selosse's Collection

Most of the production is bottled under the name Initial, a Blanc de Blancs from Avize, Cramant and Oger. From three successive harvests (solera type farming), the aging lasts for five years. This champagne is an introduction to Selosse style.
Version Originale, or VO, comes from the same plots, but in different proportions, and benefits from a prolonged aging.
Contrast, which first vintage was produced in 1994, takes its name from the existing disparity between nose and palate. Born into a mini-solera, it was renamed Aÿ La Côte Faron when Selosse launched his so-called "Lieux-Dits" champagnes in 2003. There are 6 "Lieux-Dits" Champagnes, which represent the best of the terroirs they are issued from.
The Substance Blanc de Blancs represents constancy in the range of products offered by Selosse. Coming from a true solera, it includes all high Champagne vintages since 1986.
The estate also produces a Selosse Champagne Rosé, generally aged during 6 years, and a dry champagne, named Exquisite, of which only about 1,000 bottles are produced each year.

  • Champagne

Disgorgement of this vintage champagne was held on April 9, 2014. The scarcity of this product, as well as its origins, make it an exceptional champagne. You'll bring out the best of this bottle by drinking this champagne at table, and it will surprise you with its rich aromas.
Only 500 magnums of this vintage were produced.
