Tasting notes for the Bourgogne Côte d'Or Pinot Noir 2022 - Fabien Coche

  • EYE: The wine displays a vibrant ruby red color, a sign of youthfulness and liveliness. Its intense and radiant hue attests to its aromatic concentration.
  • NOSE: Rich and delicate. Aromas of fresh red fruits, such as cherry and raspberry, intertwine with spicy notes of black pepper and cloves. Subtle undertones of undergrowth and truffle add an earthy and complex dimension.
  • MOUTH: This Pinot Noir offers a silky and velvety texture. The fruity flavors are dominated by juicy cherry and wild berry notes, accompanied by delicate hints of licorice. Supple and well-integrated tannins provide structure to the wine, while the fresh acidity imparts a beautiful liveliness. The finish is long and elegant, leaving a fruity sensation on the palate.

In short: This Fabien Coche's Bourgogne Côte d'Or Pinot Noir 2022 is an elegant red wine that showcases the typicity of the Pinot Noir grape and the Burgundy region. Its vibrant ruby red color, delicate nose, and velvety palate create a tasting experience full of finesse and character. With its flavors of red fruits, spicy undertones, and harmonious balance, it pairs perfectly with delicate dishes such as roasted poultry, duck fillets, or sautéed mushrooms. Whether enjoyed now or aged for another 5 to 7 years in your cellar, this Pinot Noir is a wine you simply cannot miss.

Famous wine estate of Meursault

Fabien Coche is the great-grandson of Léon Coche, the founder of the eponymous wine estate during the 1920's. Thus, he is also the cousin of Raphaël Coche, current manager of the Domaine Coche-Dury (created by Jean-François Coche, one of the most famous winemakers in the world). Founded in 1940, the Domaine Fabien Coche used to be called "Coche-Bizouard", when Fabien was still working with his father, Alain Coche-Bizouard.

In his Meursault estate, located on the Burgundian Côte de Beaune, Fabien Coche stays true to the old winemaking techniques his family came up with during the early 20th century. He switched to organic farming a few years ago, to take better care of his 10 hectares of vineyard, although he only asked for an official certification in 2020. The soils are manually tilled and not a single drop of chemical is used, neither in the vineyard, nor the vats.

The result? Red and white wines that are impressively balanced, with a strong fruitiness and an incredible freshness. You can taste these wines when they're still fairly young but they're also perfect candidates for a few years of aging in a cellar. Fabien produces many high-quality appellations, such as the Saint-Aubin, Puligny-Montrachet, Pommard, MonthélieAuxey-Duresses and other famous names. In total, around 50,000 bottles of wine come out of the Domaine Fabien Coche each year.
