Family wine estate in Puligny-Montrachet
The Domaine Paul Pernot was founded in 1959, on the famous commune of Puligny-Montrachet, in Burgundy. Although, the vineyard itself is much older than that, as it's been in the Pernot family for more than 200 years. After three decades of good and loyal service to his grapevines, Paul Pernot decided to retire and leave the family business in the capable hands of his two sons, Paul (Jr.) and Michel.
Today, the 10 hectares vineyard of the early years has doubled in size to reach a total surface of 23 hectares. Almost 70% of the grapevines are from the Puligny-Montrachet premier cru appellation. The Domaine Paul Pernot is actually one of the biggest producers for the appellation, like the Domaine Leflaive and the Domaine de Montille. Two parcels of grands crus located on the Côte de Beaune (the Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet appellations) also belong to the two Pernot brothers.
Michel and Paul are backed up by Paul Sr.'s grand-daughter, Alvina Pernot. She became a winemaker in 2017, with the support of her husband Philippe. Not only does she lend a hand to the family estate but she also produces her very own brand of wine, under her name. Alvina is on a quest to offer a unique and authentique experience to customers, as she fights to preserve each local terroir's specificities.
