Domaine Benoît Ente
Winemaking family from Puligny-Montrachet
From the famous Ente family, here comes Benoît. He started his career by helping his aunt on her Burgundy vineyard in 1990. Eight years later, he decided to fly solo and sold his very first vintage in 2002. When his aunt retired in 2013, she asked Benoît to take care of the family estate (whose grapevines were planted right after World War II). His brother Arnaud is a true inspiration to Benoît, and he tries to be as great a winemaker as him. He has decided to work on his wines' two main strengths: purity and elegance.
On his 6 hectares of land, mainly located around the village of Puligny-Montrachet (on the Côte de Beaune), Benoit Ente produces 12,000 bottles per year of Chardonnay, Bourgogne Aligoté and Pinot Noir. He uses no herbicides and no chemical fertilizers, because his relationship with his vineyard is a respectful and lasting one. His wines, which used to be rich and powerful, have progressively become more dynamic. For him, an acidic wine is much more pleasant in the mouth and can last longer in a cellar.
