Rare Champagne
Exceptional champagne, by Piper-Heidsieck
Rare Champagne, a brand stemming from the heritage of Piper-Heidsieck, is more than just a champagne. Its history dates back to 1785, when the maison Piper-Heidsieck, founded that very same year in Reims by Florens-Louis Heidsieck, presented its first prestige cuvée to the Queen of France, Marie-Antoinette. This encounter marked the beginning of the legend of Piper-Heidsieck and its Rare cuvée.
In fact, to celebrate the centenary of the house, a first limited series of bottles, aptly named the "Cuvée du Centenaire", was imagined by the renowned jeweler Pierre-Karl Fabergé in 1885. A hundred years later, it was the turn of another great jeweler, Van Cleef & Arpels, to design the very first vintage of the 20th century, the Rare Vintage 1976, thus emphasizing the association between the champagne house and the world of haute couture.
Since its birth in 1976, Rare champagne has been preserved in unique bottles not made by anyone else in the world, including the 18th-century Pinte Majeure, symbolizing its charisma and history. It is a luxury champagne, only produced during exceptional years, with a blend of chardonnay and pinot noir from the best vineyards in Champagne. It embodies both elegance and refinement, with its unique flavors of sweet spices and fresh tropical fruits, reflecting the exceptional terroir of the region.
Rare champagne is also known worldwide for its talented cellar master Régis Camus, nicknamed the "Enfant terrible of Champagne". After 28 years of service to Maison Piper-Heidsieck and the Rare brand (officially since 2018), receiving the highest accolades and leaving a legacy of perfection and excellence, Régis retired in 2022. His two successors, Émilien Boutillat (the new cellar master) and Maud Rabin (Rare's new brand representative), continue this tradition of excellence with passion and dedication.
