Domaine Bizot
Fine Vosne-Romanée wines
The Domaine Bizot is a wine estate located in Vosne-Romanée, in the Burgundy region of the French Côte de Nuits. It is primarily known for its Pinot Noir wine, considered by many to be one of the best red wines you'll find in the region. The estate was founded in 1966 by patriarch Jean Bizot, a former wine merchant who bought several vineyard plots in the region. Today, the entire estate is run by his son, Jean-Yves Bizot, a trained geologist who took over from his father in 1993.
The Domaine Bizot owns approximately 5 hectares of vineyards, all located in the Côte de Nuits, and produces around 2,500 cases of wine per year. The vines are grown biodynamically (without official certification), guaranteed to be free of chemicals and sulfur, using environmentally friendly viticulture methods only. The estate's wine is considered to be of high quality, often compared to other great Burgundy wines, such as those made by the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti or the Domaine Leroy. Jean-Yves's wines are characterized by their complexity, elegance, and excellent aging potential.
The Domaine Bizot produces several different appellations, including Côte de Nuits Villages, Vosne-Romanée, and Échezeaux. The estate's most famous wine is undoubtedly its Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru, which is considered one of the best wines in the region. The estate also produces a white Chardonnay wine, although its production is much more limited.
