Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux
Family estate from Vosne-Romanée, since 1858
In 1858, Charles Arnoux married Renée Salbreux. Their two families used this occasion to merge both their vineyards, giving birth to a brand new wine estate in Vosne-Romanée (on the famous Burgundian Côte de Nuits). A few years later, Robert Arnoux inherited the family business when his father died, in 1957. The name of the estate was changed accordingly and thus the "Domaine Robert Arnoux" came into being. He was the one who decided to start bottling all the wines produced by the estate, during the early 1950's. When Robert passed away, in 1995, his daughter Florence and her husband Pascal Lachaux assumed the role of managers of the estate, giving it their two names to create the "Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux" we still know today. The first vintage produced by this new entity was the 2007. Nowadays, their son Charles Lachaux is in charge of the 14 hectares vineyard since Florence and Pascal passed him the baton, in 2015. He is part of the sixth generation of winemakers.
Charles succeeded in blending originality, tradition, modernity and respect for nature. A real tour de force! Thanks to his hard work, the young man became one of the new superstars in the Burgundy world of biodynamics. He was even awarded the title of "World's Best Winemaker" in October 2021, during the first ceremony of the Golden Vines Awards. For him, wine is a passion, not a job. Charles is a huge fan of Lalou Bize-Leroy's body of work (the revered female pope of biodynamics) and tries to use her methods whenever possible. In total, he owns more than a dozen famous appellations in his vineyard, all of them 100% Pinot Noir, such as Clos-de-Vougeot Grand Cru, Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru, Chambolle-Musigny Village, Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru…
