Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande

Exceptional Médoc terroir

The origin of Pichon Longueville goes back to 1688-1689. In 1850, Virginie Pichon Longueville, Comtesse de Lalande by marriage, inherited 3/5th of her father's vineyard of Pauillac, in Bordeaux. The vineyards took, a few years later, the name of "Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande". In 1978, May-Eliane de Lencquesaing inherited this beautiful estate and devoted herself to to it, giving birth to its international reputation. In 2007, the Champagne house Louis Roederer bought the castle, aiming to maintain the domain at such a high level of quality and prestige.

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande covers 85 hectares in the Médoc region. This castle is unique in the Pauillac appellation, as 11 hectares are located in the area of Saint-Julien. The vineyard's soil is composed of gravel and clay found in the Garonne river. The vines are 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 8% Petit Verdot.
