The estate of the Comtes Lafon owner
Dominique Lafon, the great grandson of Count Jules Lafon, who was a renowned Burgundy winemaker as well as a former mayor of Meursault during the late 19th century, first started working full-time at the family Domaine des Comtes Lafon (in 1986) before creating his very own wine trading company in 2007. The latter now bears his name and he manages 4.5 hectares of vines in the Côte de Beaune (in Meursault, Volnay, Beaune and Puligny-Montrachet).
In his estate, Dominique can experiment more than ever. He tries things he would never have done at the Domaine des Comtes Lafon, such as more mineral wines, with a lot of tension. Plus, he's aiming bigger, since he's also a consultant for two American vineyards in the state of Oregon. Thanks to his new company and his great grandfather's vineyard, Dominique Lafon can produce close to 7,000 bottles of wines per year, reds and wines, for a total of 16 cultivated hectares of grapevines.
