The son of Yvon Métras has found his own style
Jules is the son of famous winemaker Yvon Métras, one of the biggest names in the Beaujolais region. From his father, he inherited his love for the vineyard as well as a passion for organic methods. He also inherited the Métras name, which motivated him to walk in his dad’s footsteps at first, making wines that were very similar to his. After a few years working for Yvon, Jules then decided to travel the globe.
For years, he met new people, learned new things, tried new ideas… and then came back home. He produced his very first vintage in 2014. That same year, Jules Métras came out of his father’s shadow. He now has his own vineyard (a bit less than 2 hectares) of Gamay grapevines, mainly. Jules still uses Yvon’s biodynamic methods (both are actually certified) but the Chiroubles wines he makes are more dynamic and mineral, with more weight.
