Fine Wine from Auxey-Duresses
The Lafouge Estate, rooted in Auxey-Duresses since the 17th century (1650, to be precise), stands as a cornerstone of winemaking in the Côte de Beaune. Led by patriarch Jean and his son Gilles Lafouge, the estate has expanded over the centuries to include parcels in Meursault and Pommard, totaling 12 hectares of vineyards. Through meticulous viticultural practices and traditional winemaking processes, the family estate embodies the very essence of its renowned terroir, offering wines of remarkable finesse and elegance.
Since embarking on his winemaking journey in 1987, Gilles has expanded the estate's vineyard, originally 7 hectares, while preserving the authenticity and quality of the wines. His commitment to sustainable viticulture, including considering biodynamics, reflects the domaine's progressive evolution towards environmentally-friendly practices, such as limiting inputs, using natural composts, or hand-harvesting grapes.
With a steadfast focus on quality and continuity, the Lafouge family upholds its historical heritage while paving the way for newer, more modern dynamics. These are notably represented by the recent arrival of the younger generation, ready to perpetuate the estate's quest for excellence, as Gilles Lafouge is now supported by his young son Maxime.
