Biodynamic Austrian Wine
Bernhard Ott is an Austrian winemaker who produces high-quality wines in Feuersbrunn, a village located in the Wagram wine region of Lower Austria. He is currently the owner and manager of Weingut Bernhard Ott, a family business that has been making wine since 1889. Bernhard began working in the 32-hectare family vineyard at a young age and later studied oenology and viticulture at the University of Vienna. He also worked in several other world-renowned vineyards in France and Germany, where he gained valuable experience in producing high-quality wines.
Today, Bernhard Ott's wines are considered to be among the best in the Wagram region (and Austria in general). He is known for his passion for indigenous grape varieties, particularly the Grüner Veltliner, which represents 95% of his vineyard. Ott is also a strong advocate for biodynamic viticulture practices and the use of natural production methods, which has earned him numerous accolades from critics and consumers alike. In fact, in 2008, Bernhard Ott was even named "Winemaker of the Year" by the Austrian wine and gastronomy magazine Falstaff. This distinction is considered one of the most prestigious in the Austrian wine industry.
