Biodynamic Wine from Vosne-Romanée
Charles Lachaux works at Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux, located in Vosne-Romanée, in the Côte de Nuits region of Burgundy. This family-owned vineyard (formerly known as "Domaine Robert Arnoux," named after the great-grandfather and father of the current owner) has existed since 1858. It is now owned by Robert's daughter, Florence Arnoux, and her husband Pascal Lachaux (a former apprentice of the second Robert Arnoux). Their son Charles has been helping them at the estate since 2011 and has been managing it since 2015.
Charles Lachaux has proven to be a talented and passionate winemaker, representing the fifth generation of his family to work in the estate. He emphasizes the production of high-quality wines that reflect the essence of each terroir, but Charles primarily makes wines that he can enjoy. In fact, it is from this philosophy that his eponymous project was born, originally derived from a plot of the Bourgogne Aligoté grape variety. Later on, Charles began experimenting with other appellations, such as Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges, and Chambolle-Musigny.
In his green laboratory, the grapevines are cultivated following biodynamic principles, with a deep respect for nature and the terroir. The harvest is done by hand, and the grapes are carefully sorted to retain only the best berries. Charles Lachaux is now recognized by critics and wine enthusiasts worldwide for the quality of his wines. In 2021, at just 32 years old, Charles Lachaux was elected "Best Young Winemaker in the World" at the Golden Vines Awards ceremony, a true milestone for him.
The quantities produced by Charles Lachaux on his 14.5 hectares of vineyard are limited, making his wines highly sought after by connoisseurs. Due to their success, these bottles are often only available in restricted quantities and at quite high prices.
