Vallée du Rhône
The vineyard of the Rhône Valley is located on both banks of the Rhône river. With its huge production capacity (1.53 million of hectoliters, for 30 000 hectares of land), it is the country's second best vineyard.
Its soil is a varied blend of pebbles, sand, clay, gravel... This is perfect for many appellations, such as the Côte-Rôtie, Gigondas, Saint-Joseph, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, or the Côte-du-Rhône. This last one, created in 1937, represents 44 000 hectares of vines, shared between six departments: Gard, Loire, Rhône, Vaucluse, Ardèche and Drôme.
